Vivian Tica has been a Christian worker with Higher Ground Baptist Missions since 1990. She taught English at Higher Ground Bible College from 1990 to 2010 as well as Journalism and Creative Writing at Higher Ground Baptist Academy, where her students and their school paper won writing contests from district to national levels. She currently serves at IGSL as program administrator of the PhD in Peace Studies program.

She took the Partners in Ministry course at IGSL and graduated in 2008, after which she became co-teacher for the Christian Motherhood class from 2009 to 2012. She has attended seminars like “Raising Gifted Kids”, “Teaching Singapore Math”, “Raising Children in This Digital Age”, “Educational Psychology for Middle School Aged Children”, and “Coding for Today’s Kids.” As a high school and elementary school teacher, she has also attended various seminars in teaching journalism.

Vivian has written more than 30 academic textbooks and trade books for children published by National Book Store, Anvil Publishing, Academic Publishing, and other publishing companies.

She was born in Manila but grew up in Calumpit, Bulacan. She is married to Nimrod Tica, and the Lord has blessed them with four daughters—Caasi, Ivy, Pia, and Reigne.

Vivian loves singing gospel songs, listening to classical music, and reading devotionals by Cynthia Heald and Francine Rivers. She is fascinated with historical fiction and creative non-fiction. Research and studies in education and psychology are some of the other readings she enjoys. Once in a while she writes personal memoirs.

She considers herself very approachable and her background in psychology helps her sense people’s needs. Vivian is a hands-on mom, and she encourages her children to sing, play musical instruments, and write journals or short stories.
