What is GDG?

The Graduate Development Goals (GDG) are the traits we are seeking to develop in the lives of our students. We recognize that none of us have attained them, but we press on toward these goals for ourselves and our students.

The following are IGSL’s Graduate Development Goals:

  • Maturing Disciple Makers
    • who love God and love others, increasingly reflecting the Spirit-filled character of Christ
    • who share the gospel contextually and disciple holistically
    • who are devoted to helping the church carry out the Great Commission to all nations
  • Contextually Reflective Practitioners
    • who discern strategic connections between Christianity and local contexts
    • who address key social concerns in light of the Gospel
    • who minister with contextual creativity and biblical fidelity
  • Healthy Relaters
    • who are secure in their identity in Christ
    • who demonstrate respect and grace to all people from all backgrounds
    • who live harmoniously with family and others, resolving conflict in a healthy manner
  • Biblically-rooted Christian Thinkers
    • who interpret and communicate Scripture effectively
    • who grasp how the whole Bible fits together to inform historic Christian teaching
    • who are skilled in creative and critical thinking
  • Servant-Steward Leaders
    • who understand and steward their God-given calling and resources for leadership
    • who use their position and authority to effectively serve God and others in love
    • who influence and mobilize others through team leadership and healthy partnerships
