Dr. Jim Whelchel has been serving in the ministry for more than 35 years. He has worked with the regional leadership team of Campus Crusade for Christ Southeast Asia, and has been Assistant to the Vice President of CCCI for Global Church Movements. He also served as Assistant Director (seven years) and Executive Director (six years) of IGSL.

Presently, he is a member of the IGSL Board of Trustees as well as the Management Committee and the Board of Trustees at Christ’s Commission Fellowship (CCF).

Dr. Whelchel authored “The Path to Liberation: Theology of Struggle in the Philippines,” which was published in 1995. He is the founding director of Foundations for Christian Leadership, a non-formal leadership training program that has helped equip over 15,000 pastoral leaders from 12 countries.

He also initiated the Multiplying Churches and Communities training process in 2011, now being used to initiate church planting movements in more than 70 countries, with thousands of house churches and multiplying small groups established.

Dr. Whelchel is passionate about building church multiplication movements in the power of the Holy Spirit among those who are least reached with the gospel of Christ, especially in Asia. He is committed to discipling and equipping younger leaders who will catch the same vision.

He is married to Dr. Luiselinda Bilgera S. Whelchel, and they have two grown children. He plays tennis and golf, likes to travel, and is a licensed Amateur Radio Operator.
