FULL-TIME FACULTY
This category refers to faculty members and their spouses who have been sent on a full-time basis by a sending organization to IGSL. They serve in two areas:
- Degree Faculty teach in the degree programs of IGSL. Faculty in this area must have completed or be pursuing advanced degrees above MA/M.Div. They are expected to teach in the degree programs and lead an ISG. In addition, each is expected to serve on a primary team and be involved in a Great Commission-movement-oriented ministry.
- Non-Degree Faculty do not teach in degree programs, and thus are not required to possess advanced degrees. Non-degree faculty may have advanced degrees or adequate experience to teach in degree programs (and may do so at times), but their primary focus is outside the degree programs. Examples of non-degree faculty are those teaching in certificate programs (PIM, English, FCL) and those in administrative positions.
Full-time Faculty are expected to serve 40 hours per week in the various facets of IGSL ministry. Wives with children (high school or younger) are encouraged to devote at least 8 hours to IGSL, including personal ministry. Wives with adult children (18 and above) or with no children at home are expected to be involved in IGSL for an equivalent of at least 32 hours.
ASSOCIATE FACULTY MEMBERS
This category is designed for those who possess the qualifications of full-time faculty but are unable to give a full-time commitment to IGSL. Associate faculty must devote at least 2 days a week (approximately 16 to 20 hours) to IGSL concerns such as teaching, leading an ISG, coaching a TAM, and influencing key sectors of society. They are encouraged to join a strategic team and participate in faculty meetings if possible. They may or may not have a sending organization. The spouse of an associate faculty is not required to apply for faculty.
AFFLIATE FACULTY MEMBERS
This category is designed for those who can offer needed gifts, expertise, and services to the various dimensions of IGSL’s mission, vision, and organizational strategies. They already have some kind of ongoing, sustained level of partnership and contribution to a strategic team of the school. Affiliate faculty do not have a specific time commitment, and may serve as consultants.
ADJUNCT TEACHING &
VISITING FACULTY MEMBERS
Adjunct faculty members are those who regularly teach at least one class per academic year. These faculty members report to the Department Chairperson specified in the faculty member’s job descriptions. They are paid by IGSL according to their teaching load and level of advanced degree. Adjunct faculty members may lead an ISG or coach a TAM sight but it is not required.
Visiting Faculty are those who teach occasionally. These faculty members report to the Leadership Programs Director. They may receive a love gift from IGSL for their service. Though visiting faculty need not go through an official orientation, the Department Chairperson is responsible to orient him about IGSL’s calling, values, educational approaches, and deadlines.
